Some Current Facts, Figures & BATAC Academy Solutions
Warwick Business School - According to Dr. Stuart Fraser of the Warwick Business School, black-owned businesses are four times more likely to be refused credit than are white-owned businesses. Another finding of his research was that black Caribbean companies are, in fact, less likely to apply for loans than white-owned firms, as they fear discrimination will result in rejection.

Black Women - Research has shown black women are up to four times more likely than white women to accept a job at a lesser level; a job for which black Caribbean women are well-qualified. Black women are also more likely employed in low-paying fields such as catering, clerical positions, child care and other social care jobs. In addition, black women are more likely employed in temporary or less secure work than their white counterparts are.

Guardian - A report in The Guardian newspaper stated there is a feeling that black people are “not seen as generating wealth, but as spending money”. Research quoted from the London Development Agency illustrated the issues of Black businesses getting loans, with 25% having significant problems achieving this, as compared to 11% of Asian companies, and 10% of White companies; this mirrors the research from Warwick.
